hope you'll set your dvr. record "hannity" each week night. start your day with ainsley and fox and friends first. and thanks for being with us we'll see you back tomorrow night. this is for connie and wayne. the o'reilly factor is on. tonight. >> this is a classic coverup of a coverup. and that is a serious offense. >> why isn't the national media covering the explosive benghazi memo release yesterday? we'll tell you what the memo says and why the press fears it. >> the creepy part is that, yeah, when you get taped in your own house, and then that goes out to the world. >> the creepy part is when you demean the entire black race. but some people still don't get that tonight, we'll talk it over with kareem abdul jabbar. >> also coming up, miller on basketball racism and watters goes to harlem to find out what the folks
8:01 pm
think. >> do you think sterling is making white people look bad? >> he is not making white people look bad. is he making himself look bad. >> caution, you are about to enter the no spin zone. the factor begins right now. >> ♪ ♪ hi, i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. president obama, the press, and the benghazi memo. that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. well, now we know now there is no question, the white house misrepresented the terror attack on september 11th, 2012, in benghazi, libya. four americans murdered by a coordinated terror attack. most likely from an al qaeda affiliate. not one person has been brought to justice in the attack. not one. five days after the murders, u.n. ambassador susan rice said this to the world.
8:02 pm
the information, the best information and the best assessment we have today is that, in fact, this was not a preplanned, premeditated attack, that what happened initially was it was a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired in cairo as a consequence of the video. >> that was not true. that was not even close to being true. and a variety of people told the white house it was not true. yet, ambassador rice said what she said. yesterday, the watchdog group judicial watch released the damning truth which it procured through the freedom of information act. a memo written by senior white house advisor ben rhodes dated september 14th says that ms. rice was prepped to, quote: underscore that these protests are rooted in an internet video and not a broader failure of policy.
8:03 pm
again, that despite cia people in libya and, perhaps, defense secretary panetta telling the president and the white house the video had little to do with the murders. on super bowl sunday, i put the question to president obama himself. >> you have some who are affiliated with terrorist organizations. you have some who are not. but the main thing that all ofs have you to take away from this is our diplomats are serving in some very dangerous places. >> it's more than that though. >> we have got to make sure that not only have we implemented all the reforms that are recommended by the independent agency but we also have to make sure that we understand our folks out there are in a hazardous, dangerous situation. >> i think everybody understands that, mr. president. >> actually, not everybody does. >> i think they do. >> what ends up happening is we end up creating a political agenda. >> and that's exactly what happened. the president and the white house created a political agenda. saying a spontaneous demonstration led to the
8:04 pm
murders, not a coordinate nateed terror attack. and they did this because the president was running for re-election on a platform that he had broken al qaeda and any evidence to the contrary might have hurt his campaign. now, did president obama know ambassador rice was misleading the world? the elm mow from rhodes, one of his top advisors went to his spokesperson, jay carney, among others. so the truth is the president stood by while the united states of america mislead the world about a terror attack. but even if mr. obama was not directly engaged in that deception, the moment he found out about it, he should have corrected the record. but he did not even when he had a chance with me to do so. that's a huge story. but if you read the "wall street journal" today, the "new york times," the "l.a. times," the "boston globe," there is no mention of it. none. the "the washington post" ran the story on page 17.
8:05 pm
only "u.s.a. today" was on honest and responsible putting the benghazi email story on the front page. congratulations to "u.s.a. today" which is owned by gwinnett. the network news last night didn't cover the benghazi story. msnbc, nor did cnn and prime time. this morning only the cbs evening news mentioned the benghazi story. that's a scandal. a scandal. that is proof the american press is dishonest. period. they are covering up a coverup as krauthammer put it. which might lead directly to the president of the united states. yet, few americans even know what's going on. while nearly everybody in the country knows about a racist comment by a basketball owner. so what we have here the words from a movie cool hand luke is failure to
8:06 pm
communicate. and that failure by the national press to tell the american people the truth about benghazi is for one reason and one reason only. to protect president barack obama. and that's the memo. now for the top story tonight. reaction, joining us from washington leslie marshall and host of media buzz seen on sunday morning howard kurtz. explain to me why the national media didn't cover it? >> most of the media are suffering from benghazi allergy syndrome. knee jerk reaction that this story is old, it's complicated, it's settled and the country has moved on. one more thing and you got backlash when you interviewed the president about. this oh, it's a fox news story. >> now we know it isn't. now we know that the white house mislead on purpose for political reasons in a presidential campaign. so, all of that blown goes to the wayside and now they have to, if they are honest saying this is a big story. it's a big story. >> it's a significant story. in some ways it's incremental advance on what we already knew. the white house was spinning
8:07 pm
in an election year to try to minimize the fallout on benghazi attacks. leading to the misleading susan rice talking points on those sunday morning shows, but even if you think it's not that big of deal, then cover it, analyze it, put it in context. don't black it out. >> all right. so i'm right in saying the reason they are blacking it out is to protect president obama? >> no, i don't agree with that. >> more interested in clive bundy and feels like this an old story. >> a 17 in the "the washington post"? used to work there. >> better than the "new york times" i will tell that you? it's embarrassing. what do you say? >> actually, i agree with howard on this. if you look wheat trending and i think a lot of people deciding what they are going to put on their airwaves in other networks or print comes down to numbers ratings or selling papers, they were carrying about the clippers and not just here in los angeles. >> you couldn't do both, leslie? >> a huge fine. >> leslie, leslie, you couldn't do both. >> yes, bill. >> you couldn't do both? i did both last night. >> i'm not disagreeing with you that they were being irresponsible not to cover
8:08 pm
it however, the bottom line is what did americans care about? this is supply and demand. a execution in oklahoma. >> let me break this to you leslie. >> i agree. that will make them money. >> their business is to cover the news. this is news. >> correct. >> they are not covering it kirtz is wrong because they want to protect obama, period. they have been doing it from the the very beginning. >> disagree. >> continue to do it until is he out of office. all right, leslie if you say i'm wrong, you tell me why they didn't cover that story because you can cover that wanted a the clippers and the missing boat, plane, there was salt water in the indian ocean? i think that's what cnn is reporting now salt water in the indian ocean. especially in the newspaper. they ignored it on purpose because they don't want president obama to look like a coverup guy. that's what's going on. >> i don't agree. >> back it up. >> you say no. >> i'm going to back it it
8:09 pm
up right now. hillary clinton, hopefully, got willing, polls show today would win and would take over the electorates and has a lead over jeb bush and the other g.o.p. potential candidates in 2016. we're going to hear about benghazi 247 every network. and i agree with howard that the perception is the american people have moved on and cared more about the clippers and a gay who died on a gurney in oklahoma. >> you guys are so absolutely wrong. >> i do agree with that. >> i am surprised with you. >> i just said i agree with you on that point. >> you are an obama person, you work for the "the washington post." you work for cnn. you know how much air time all of cnn has. you know how much air time they have in the morning. two hour blocks. they did not run this story because it reflects poorly on barack obama. that's the fact. you should know it and you should say it. >> listen, you understand first of all that the press doesn't always cover the
8:10 pm
most important stories. >> no, i don't understand that. >> i am not defending that. >> i have been doing this 37 years, all right? they cover most of them, the stories that are big. this is big. >> this is big. cnn did have a debate on it on the morning show not enough. >> didn't cover it last night. not one second. in four hours of prime time did they doe vote to it. >> i'm not going to defend that i can't understand it but, president obama has been getting lots of a lousy press from the mainstream media about foreign policy. >> incremental, not this. >> david brooks questioned his manhood. >> this is a scandal. >> it's a scandal. >> but it's a scandal that has been going on for more than a year and a half. >> did you hear sharyl attkisson on this program when she tried to investigate it what happened to her. >> cbs didn't run the story and she quit. >> are you telling me they are not protecting bomber? are you telling me that? >> what i'm telling is you the press is falling down on the job in this case because it is a story that has been kicking around for a long
8:11 pm
time and this did notit open. >> oh, it cracked it open. you got a guy like ben rhodes writing a memo like that and then you have obama sitting with me when he could have said you you know what? we handled that wrong. >> the one thing we ran, bill, this was news and should have gotten more coverage. >> did hillary clinton know about the coverup in benghazi and will that become a presidential issue for her? karl rove with some thoughts. then kareem abdul jabbar on whether the los angeles clippers race deal is over. factor is coming right back. hey kevin...still eating chalk for hearburn? yea. try alka seltzer fruit chews. they work fast on heart burn and taste awesome. these are good. told ya! i'm feeling better already. alka-seltzer fruit chews. enjoy the relief!

impact segment tonight, as we said in the talking points memo it's not yard much the what the white house represented the terror attack in benghazi for political reasons. obviously that's what they did. as you may know, former secretary of state hillary clinton was involved with the story as well. >> was it because of a protest or was because of
8:15 pm
guys out for a walk one night who decided they would go kill some americans. what difference, at this point, does it make? >> well now we know what difference it makes. it's a presidential campaign. joining us from austin, texas, fox news analyst karl rove. look, i just had two guests here, smart people. one is an idealogue and that was leslie and she is going to stick up poor obama pretty much no matter what. kirtz is veteran journalist. they are both trying to tell me that the press did not cover benghazi because they don't think the folks are interested in it. i'm going, you know, that's not what the press is supposed to be here. watchdogs for the people, protecting the people from government malfeasance and dishonesty. are we living in the twilight zone now or what? >> we are living in the twilight zone. i read these memos today. they are deeply troubling. the memo on friday night from ben rhodes that it's gotten so much of a focus, remember who else is on the distribution list here. and who is not on the
8:16 pm
distribution list. on the distribution list is the senior advisor to the president, david plouffe, who is super intending the president's re-election campaign. also on there is dan pfeiffer, the communications director who succeeded mr. plouffe in that job when mr. plouffe left the white house jennifer palmeri who is thought communications director who succeeded dan pfeiffer and at that point was the rapid response person inside the white house. the political hierarchy of the west wing is being cc'd by ben rhodes on this. entire section labeled benghazi here on about the third page of the runoff of this email. >> let's play the sound bite it's not dan it's jay it's he changed his name. >> not about benghazi but the overall situation in the region, the muslim world where you saw protests outside of embassy facilities across the
8:17 pm
region. >> sounded more like art carney there because is he not telling the truth as you know. >> yeah. >> exactly. >> go ahead, why isn't he telling the truth? how do you know is he not telling the truth? >> not telling the truth because in here it says we are not aware of any actionable intelligence attack on u.s. mission in benghazi was planned or elm eminent. dangerously inspired by the u.s. cairo. involved assault consulate and annex. he denied this had anything to do with benghazi. >> companies crazy. >> look, let's step back for amendment movement let's assume for a moment that jay carney and you are right it's jay carney, i have known him for along time. jay carney is telling the truth. well then what is the administration attempting to do on sunday? it's attempting to say don't pay attention to benghazi. pay attention to these demonstrations in caro. the central story is not the death of the u.s. ambassador and three other americans.
8:18 pm
the real story is that we have got protests outside the embassy in cairo inspired by a video that no one had seen. physical jay carney is telling the truth and that's what the administration was focused on, then the administration was clearly trying to distract attention from this incredible example. >> there isn't any doubt about it any of honest credible person will now know what happened. now, let's go it hillary clinton. she is involved with this. that memo wasn't cc'd to her. she didn't get that and didn't have anything to do with rice going out there. >> wait a minute, through this traffic if you look at it. there is a guy named jake suleman who had previous buy been biden's chief foreign policy advisor at the time of 2012 is a top aide to hillary clinton, secretary of state. is he a running buddy of this crowd inside the white house, including ben rhodes,
8:19 pm
he is clearly involved this preparation of susan rice for sunday. he is aware of what is going on. he is aware of that's pints. he is aware of the strategy and communication. she may be stepping back from this. she may be trying to put a little distance. she has somebody who is involved in this process who is monitoring it for her. a guy named jake sullivan. >> is that going to hurt her in the presidential run? >> look, it should. but, look, this clearly indicates that the administration engaged in a deliberate effort to mislead the american people and to hide the real story behind benghazi. this-ron nicly though may give her a little bit of running room. she could say, you know what? that was the white house who did that that was the national security counsel staff ben rhodes that was david plouffe, that was people inside the white house. if she feels she needs to distance herself, she has now been given the opportunity to do. so i would not be surprised in the years ahead if we saw her and her people suddenly exercise themselves of that option by saying we agree
8:20 pm
with you, the white house, the obama white house mishandled this thing. should have told the truth. >> if she says that to the press, nobody will hear it because they won't report it all right, mr. rove, i have got to goncht well, they may. because jonathan karl today showed the mainstream press -- >> -- we'll see. >> is willing to stand up on this issue. >> karl, he is a good reporter. but we will see what they do with it. directly ahead, kareem abdul jabbar on race in america. later, miller and watters need say more? those reports after these mess sandals.
